Jessica Lee Hutchings – Greetings from Alabama
Beauregard – That’s quite a name for the young boy in Jessica Lee Hutching’s debut children’s book, Beauregard in a Box!
My curiosity took me to Google where it listed its French origin and that it means beautiful. There’s also a Beauregard, Alabama. And… Jessica was raised in Alabama, so how fitting a name. 🙂
The book is bright and beautifully illustrated. The story is about Beauregard’s dreams of traveling the world, but he is afraid to fly. Things change when new friends and the help of a cardboard box launch him off on an amazing adventure. Beauregard discovers his bravery.
Jessica and I met electronically on Instagram. Her feed features books and current events, and lots of food. Jessica has a degree in Culinary Arts. She’s been a cook, a caterer, a chef, and had a short gig teaching culinary arts at a high school. Then her other passion called. Reading, writing, and childhood antics led to Beauregard in a Box, AND, coming down the pike, Delores Thesaurus!
Visit Jessica’s website where you’ll see photos of the various stages of her life; and read her blog. Check out her Instagram, too. I especially like the video stories. Her wit and humor make me laugh.
Thank you for this postcard, Jessica! I love nature and history, and this one is fascinating. Maybe I’ll be lucky enough to visit.
